Prepare Music for Sync

The practical prep that turns a catalog track into a sync-ready asset.

Make your music easy to place

Sync supervisors are busy. The track that's easy to license is the track that gets licensed. Preparation is the work.

The sync-ready checklist

  • Instrumental versions. Many placements can't use vocals. Have a clean instrumental of every track.
  • Alternate edits. 30s and 60s cuts, plus a stinger (short button ending). Editors love pre-cut options.
  • Stems. Drums, bass, melody separated lets editors fit music to picture.
  • Zero uncleared samples. Confirm in writing. This is the #1 deal-killer.
  • Complete metadata. BPM, key, mood, genre, instrumentation, vocal/instrumental, writer splits.

Organize for discovery

Group your sync-ready tracks separately from your lease beats. A supervisor who lands on a clean, fully-tagged set of instrumentals moves fast. A messy mixed catalog slows them down — and they move on.

You don't need to make new music for sync. You need to prepare the music you already have.

Review your catalog and identify 3–5 tracks to prepare as sync-ready instrumentals.
